Stalingrad – Volgograd is like a hero passing through every tale about the War. Heroic deeds of Soviet soldiers in the defense of Stalingrad are still used as the basis for the plot in new legends and films.
Volgograd has become a kind of a cult. People from every corner of our vast Russia come here to worship on the Victory Day. It goes without saying that a historical and memorial complex “To Heroes of Stalingrad battle at Mamayev Kurgan” with the sculpture “The Motherland Calls” is the main hallmark of Volgograd! This is one of the highest sculptures in the world which is on the list of the seven wonders of Russia. The Victory day in Volgograd is always celebrated on a grand scale. Around one million people annually go to Volgograd in order to climb up to the main height of the country as a part of the “Immortal regiment”. “The light of the Great Victory” is a unique video installation of war years which is annually projected on Victory Day on the sculpture “The Motherland calls” at Mamayev Kurgan.
Every year Volgograd is included in the top 5 cities that are popular for traveling exactly on the significant date for the country.
Besides memorial and historical direction, such types of tourism as recreational, active, religious, ethnocultural, event-based as well as auto-tourism, river cruises and fishing are also popular.

The Committee of Youth Policy and Tourism of Volgograd administration is a branch structural subdivision of Volgograd administration, which is in charge of performing executive and administrative functions in the field of youth policy on the territory of Volgograd, for organizing and implementing activities to work with children and youth in Volgograd, creating conditions for the development of tourism in Volgograd.
With purpose for comprehensive and sysematic development of tourism in Volgograd, on December 29, the municipal program "Creating conditions for the development of tourism on the territory of Volgograd" was approved by the Decision of Volgograd Administration No. 1894.
